Setup on A Samsung Phone
If you have a Samsung phone, or had any issues during the setup on your phone, here is a separate setup video that walks through the quick process on a Samsung phone as some of the menus look a bit different since the Android OS is not uniform across all supported devices.
Note: If you want to use the Ultimate Freedom routine with a barcode rather than a QR code, when selecting your camera in Macrodroid, choose THIS App instead of the native camera app as it handles both QR and barcodes. (Thanks for the suggestion Zack Mitchell!)

On This Day Routine:
In the DEQODE menu is a newly added routine called On This Day. Print out the photo above (download it here) as your prediction. Run the routine and open Google Keep (the notes app) and hand your phone to the spectator and have them write down a significant date to them. This can be the day they were born, the date of their marriage, a historical event or just any random date. They write the date in Google Keep - for example - "December 14 2012", then swipe out of the Keep app. You scan the QR code on your prediction and it goes to: https://www.onthisday.com/date/2015/december/14
Note: They must write the date in the format above (Month Day Year). For example "Jaunary 20 1995" or "March 30 2005".

Important Tips
-
This only works when scanned with your phone. If they scan the QR code with their phone, it will go to that app’s homepage, not our reveal. We suggest you place your phone in view at the start, but without calling attention to it. That way when you reveal the QR code, your phone is easily accessible and you have it in play so they don't feel the need to reach for their phone.

Always close the reveal app (Spotify, IMDB, X, Youtube, Chrome Tabs, etc.) before performing the effect. If you don't, and leave the app on the page from the last reveal, then when you go to scan for My Cousin Vinny, for example, they may see the page for Borat from your last performance briefly before it switches to the new page. Closing these apps/tabs in advance means you don't run the risk of them seeing the wrong reveal briefly (from the last performance).

You should NEVER be navigating through the DEQODE menus in performance - the input screen should be loaded and waiting with the phone then locked and place either on the table or in your pocket BEFORE you begin the routine. If you plan to perform this in the middle of a set, simply load up the "ready" position with the screen locked in your pocket. Then when ready to perform, bring out the phone, unlock it, and do the input for the routine.

In all the routines, when you reach for the phone to scan the code, show them it is locked, and when you turn it around so its only facing you, unlock and enter the information at once. This an opportunity to miscall that you are “unlocking the phone” when you are actually unlocking AND entering the input. This covers and justifies what would otherwise might appear to be unnecessary screen taps.

When performing the Random QR routine, there's a chance your phone's camera will not open the QR code in the web browser. This is because the Random QR website generates text QR codes, not URLs. Some cameras/scanners will default to opening a text QR code as a google search, such as Google Lens, however there's a chance your camera/scanner may not. If using Scanner App we recommend, you will need to go to Settings > Custom Search Options > Tap the custom search you created labeled 7 and the bit.ly link as the URL > Change 'Products' to 'All'. Now when you scan the Random QR codes with that Scanner, it will open the browser for DEQODE to kick in.
Troubleshooting
Here are some general tips to make sure that DEQODE is functioning both correctly and optimally:
1. If you are having trouble installing the Macro file:
-
If the Google Drive link to the Macro won’t "Open with Macrodroid" during the install, download the macro file to your device instead, then open Macrodroid, select Export/Import, choose Storage under Import and select the Deqode file in your Downloads.
2. Make sure the reveals happen in the respective Apps and not on the mobile web:

Go to Settings > App Info > Spotify > Set as default > Toggle open supported links on (do this for IMDB and X/Twitter as well)
3. You can enable DEQODE to function with a different browser other than Chrome:

Option 1: Go to Settings > App Info > Samsung Internet > change your default browser to Chrome

Option 2: Open MacroDroid > Macros > DEQODE > Press The Arrow next to Music > Tap Wait Until Trigger > Configure > Application Launched > Configure > Select Application > scroll down and check Samsung Internet (or whatever default browser you use). You now have to repeat this for every other routine (the above was pressing the arrow next to Music, so proceed to do this for Movies, and so on). When done adjusting this for every routine, tap the check mark to save these changes.
4. If DEQODE is not functioning correctly, try the following:

Open the MacroDroid app and press "Add Free Days" to add more free time of using the app. Alternatively, you can unlock the app forever for a small fee (be on the lookout for flash sales!).

In the MacroDroid app and make sure the toggle in the upper right of the header is enabled (set to the right). Also, on the Macros tab, confirm the DEQODE Macro toggle is enabled as well.

Make sure that scans open the dedicated web browser app - not just pop-up still within the camera app. DEQODE will not trigger until the full browser app is opened.

Confirm that the Accessibility settings are enabled for MacroDroid (this was part of the initial setup in the tutorial) by going to Settings > Accessibility > MacroDroid > Confirm it is set to ON.
5. If your native Camera will not scan a QR or Barcode:

Use the Scanner App from the Play Store suggested in the tutorial.
6. Confirm that after scanning, the actual web browser app has opened:

DEQODE only kicks in for the redirect when the full web browser app has opened (e.g. Chrome). If you scan a code and the browser pops up within the camera/scanner app, DEQODE wont work as the actual browser needs to launch. Try using the Scanner App above as it will launch in the full browser.
7. If Ultimate Freedom routine is having an issue:

Printing QR Codes & Barcodes
In certain routines, such as the Free Will, or Redirect Scans, or custom routines you create, you may want to print your own Barcode or QR code. Below are ones you can use that will be important if it opens in your web browser as the preview link shows a URL shortener (in this case bit.ly) - so the actual destination is hidden from view, and it loads a blank page to make the actual redirect much less noticable. Save the images, resize (if needed) and print.
